“How close are you to the wineries?”

wine morro bayWhen in Morro Bay you’re never more than a few minutes away from one of two world-famous wine areas. The Edna Valley Wine Area, located between the cities of Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo consists of about 30 wineries that are known for their Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. Edna Valley grapes benefit from a long growing season, cool ocean breezes, and clay-rich soil. Forty minutes northeast of Morro Bay, on Highway 101, is the renowned Paso Robles wine area, with its award-winning Zinfandels, Rhone’s, and Bordeaux’s. There are over 150 wineries in Paso wine country, where grapes thrive due to the the warm days, cool nights, and varying elevations.  The best thing about staying in Morro Bay while wine-tasting is that you can have the best of both worlds. After a fun day in the hot, dry grape-growing climate of the county, you’ll return to the cool, refreshing sea breezes of the nearby coast. And if you find a favorite wine or two in SLO or Paso Robles, you’ll probably find more of it in Morro Bay, if not served at one of our fine restaurants like STAX Wine Bar, then at wine retailers like the Morro Bay Wine Seller or Bottle Liquor. The best, and safest way to enjoy Central Coast wine-tasting is through a good wine tour company like The Wine Wrangler, Central Coast Trolley Wine Tours, The Wine Line, Grapeline Wine Tours, or Gold Coast Limos.
