THE BEST BOOKS ON MORRO BAY (Can be found on Amazon but may also be found at Coalesce Bookstore, the Natural History Museum, or at one of our library’s Saturday Book Sales.)

meanderings 1. Morro Bay Meanderings (Harold Wieman)

Harold Wieman’s classic was published in 1984 but it’s still the best book about Morro Bay ever written. Harold Wieman was a naturalist-turned columnist for the Telegram Tribune Newspaper and “Morro Bay Meanderings” is a compilation of his best columns.  He captures Morro Bay life like no other author, with columns on Morro Rock, bird life, fishermen, and the habits of the locals. Titles of topics include: “Evolution of the Estuary”; “Watching the Sea Otters”; “Those Essential Tourists”: “The Fog Factory”. Harold Wieman really knew Morro Bay and really knew how to help other people enjoy it.
